Dr. Kate Jackson has been a practicing therapist for over 35 years, and is currently in private practice at Beachwood Counseling Center, where she enjoys providing services for a variety of clients including children/teens, couples, and adults. Dr. Jackson practices holistic psychology utilizing the creative healing arts as needed.
She is deeply committed to self-evolution and personal growth and values all types of learning endeavors. She has taught in the Counseling and Art Therapy Graduate Program at Ursuline College since 1993 as an adjunct faculty, and became a full time Associate Professor in 2012. Dr. Jackson has also been a guest lecturer at various Universities in Northeast Ohio, and across the country, and is a consultant for businesses and organizations throughout the United States, where she facilitates group process in human optimization, personal growth, and job satisfaction amongst management and staff.
Dr. Jackson earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Cincinnati, and then completed her Master of Arts degree in Expressive Psychotherapy from the University of Louisville. After several years of working in the mental health field, she attended Sofia University (formerly the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology) in Palo Alto, California, where she completed her doctoral work in Psychology. Her emphasis in her doctoral research was dyadic relationships/ couples/ family therapy, human interconnectedness, exceptional human experiences, stress/anxiety disorders, and eco-psychology.
Dr. Jackson completed advanced coursework at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston, Massachusetts, where she studied human development with a focus on life purpose, human potential and profound change.
Dr. Jackson is a registered yoga teacher and provides yoga integrated into therapy sessions when needed. She also runs a yoga-therapy group for teens and adults.
Dr. Jackson has recently added Health Coaching to her repertoire of services. Health coaching is a certification granted after 1 year of study that allows practitioners to provide mind/body coaching, including (but not limited to) nutrition, exercise, emotional and intellectual health as well as spiritual practice.
Dr. Jackson is a trained telehealth provider and is available for remote therapy sessions as needed.
Beachwood Counseling Center is a facility owned by Dr. Kate Jackson, Ph.D. and Marianne Jeswald, M.S. Dr. Jackson and Ms. Jeswald and their team of therapists are dedicated to helping children, families and couples/adults cope with life struggles, including, depression, anxiety, addiction, learning issues and ADD/ADHD, trauma, divorce and also those in transition after a loss.
We focus on human optimization and helping individuals not only heal but thrive in their lives. The team at Beachwood Counseling Center uses traditional as well as holistic therapy practices, and creative arts therapies in combination with a psychoeducational approach.
These methods are designed to treat each individual person and/or family. The therapy session/treatment is tailor made to suit and fit the specific needs that are presented.
